Wildlife where? Challenge

To support WPR’s campaign for the Camping & Caravanning Club, we created a fun and educational interactive map that tests users’ knowledge of British wildlife. The tool invites people to guess where they’re most likely to spot a range of native animals – from wild ponies to red squirrels – turning a story about nature into an engaging, quiz-style experience.

Background

The campaign was underpinned by research commissioned via OnePoll, which revealed that many Brits are worryingly disconnected from the natural world on their doorstep. A large proportion of adults admitted they couldn’t identify common species in their own gardens – and even fewer felt confident about where different animals are typically found across the UK.

With over 36,000 views and users spending more than two minutes interacting with the quiz on average, the tool continues to be a sticky, scroll-stopping asset.

HOW WE DESIGNED IT

As users progress through the quiz, they’re shown nearby Camping & Caravanning Club sites in each region — directly spotlighting the client’s offerings in a way that feels useful, and engaging. We kept the interface clean and intuitive, using bright, nature-led visuals and conversational language to spark curiosity. The goal? Something simple enough for anyone to try, but rewarding enough to come back to again.

BRINGING THE MAP TO LIFE

After each guess, the correct region is revealed along with a fun fact – adding a layer of discovery to every interaction. This post-guess moment transforms the tool into a playful learning experience, reinforcing the campaign’s message while delivering scroll-stopping, media-friendly content that’s easy to embed and fun to explore.
