Background
NordVPN are a provider of a virtual private network (VPN) that gives you safe access to the internet. A VPN hides your IP and online activity and keeps your data safe from cybercriminals.
The client carried out this research with the aim to raise awareness of the dangers of credit card theft. To show that no type or brand is exempt from hacking and thus the important of their service.
How it works
The information presented is first broken down by country. Users can explore the world map and click on countries that interest them. Each country has ‘overall stats’ which include ‘Total number of cards stolen’, ‘Risk index’ and ‘Average price to buy on the dark web’.
Users can also break down the total number of cards stolen, by type (Debit, Credit and Other) and brand (Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Other).
How we designed it
The type and brand of card data is presented in an interactive pie chart. This gave us the ability to present the information in a clear way that anyone can quickly read and understand.
Using radio buttons the user can select the variables of interest and the pie chart will automatically update with relevant data. Each style of button was designed with optimal functionality and clarity in mind. This was particularly important given the vast amount of data we had to present and differentiate from each other.
Nord VPN have extensive and detailed brand guidelines. Throughout the design process we ensured that every single element of the UI we created, aligned with their visual identity.
